May Digital Charities Meetup

Our next Digital Charities meetup is being kindly hosted by Greenpeace at their offices near Canonbury (map below). The agenda is flexible, but we have confirmed two presentations:

  • Oxfam’s new World Cup campaign presented by Richard Casson & Pete Taylor.
  • Amnesty’s Shell campaign presented by Ben Clowney.

but here are some suggestions taken from last month’s meeting and current events:

  • What are the implications of our new coalition government for our campaigns?
  • Examples of successful viral (or meme) campaigns, and ideas for how we can use them productively.
  • What are the best tools for measuring online buzz? How effective are they at capturing social media chatter, etc?

The meeting will be on Thursday 20th May between 4 and 6pm, with a post-meeting chat in the New Rose, just round the corner from the GPUK offices.

April Digital Charities meetup

Our next Digital Charities meet up is happening at 4.30pm at Amnesty UK’s offices (EC2A 3EA) on Wednesday 14th April.

We’ll be heading to the nearby Strongroom Bar afterwards (from 6ish), so if you can’t make the meeting do pop in for a drink.

We are going to be focusing on the General Election, looking both at what charities are doing and the tools and techniques being used by the political parties. Bring news of what your organisation is up to!

The election’s approaching…

Aspirations from Jon in Garfield Minus Garfield

What is your organisation working on for the election?
Do you know about the coalitions working on Ask The Climate Question and the Robin Hood tax?
What should charities be focusing on in these crucial days before the general election?
How do you plan to spread a serious message on the web, without compromising the integrity of the asks?
